Colin Byrd is a former mayor and a current Ujima Scholar, a master’s student in school counseling at Bowie State University, a member of Alpha Chi National Honor Society, a member of Chi Sigma Iota, and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. A dedicated public servant, he earned his psychology degree from the University of Maryland, where he was a McNair Scholar, Mr. Black Student Union, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Colin previously served as both a city councilmember and mayor of Greenbelt, Maryland, and has worked for the Prince George’s County Council and in the Maryland General Assembly as a chief of staff. He is also an alumnus of the Johns Hopkins University School of Education PREPPEd scholarship program and the University of Maryland’s Academy for Excellence in Local Governance fellowship.
