Kwanzaa Nivens is a native Washingtonian, youth development educator, and finance professional with more than 26 years of leadership experience in public-sector financial management. She brings a unique blend of structure, compassion, and practical knowledge to her work with children and families, focusing on helping young people build confidence, resilience, and life-ready skills. As the founder of Next Level Living, Kwanzaa designs and delivers enrichment curriculum for students in primary and secondary education that emphasizes social-emotional learning, positive decision-making, goal setting, and basic money management. Her approach centers on creating safe, engaging learning environments where youth feel seen, supported, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally. Kwanzaa is an active community volunteer with 10+ years of service at Central Union Mission, DC’s oldest social service agency, three+ years as a Team Captain for the White House Easter Egg Roll, and additional support for multiple youth-centered initiatives through Events DC. Kwanzaa lives, plays, and works in the Washington Metropolitan area and includes among her hobbies roller skating, writing, and traveling.
